5V dual RS232 driver/receiver
The T1780/LT1781 dual RS driver/receiver has a single 5V power supply, low power consumption (only 40mW), and ± 15kV ESD
protection (no expensive TransZorbs are required at the RS232 terminal). Only a 0.1 μ F external capacitor is needed to operate at 120k
Baud (for load RL=3K, CL=2500pF) and 250kBaud (for load RL=3, CL=1000pF). LT1780/LT1781 is completely consistent with the EIA RS232
standard. Its output can withstand ± 30V without damage. The output of its driver and receiver is in a high impedance state under shutdown or
power-off conditions. The applications of LT1780/LT1781 include portable computers, battery powered systems, power generators, terminals,
modems, etc. Its typical application circuit is shown in Figure 1.
