A Brief Discussion on Three Basic Wind Valve Driver Methods
There are three basic types of air valve drivers: whole step, lightning pool, and subdivision.
The key difference depends on the linearity of the current of the motor electromagnetic coil (i.e. excitation method).
1. Whole step driver
In the entire operation, the same stepper motor can be equipped with both a whole/lightning tank driver and a
subdivision driver, but the actual operation effect is different. The air valve driver excites the two electromagnetic coils
of the two-phase stepper motor in a cyclic system according to pulse/direction commands (setting the current for charging the
electromagnetic coil battery). Each pulse of this type of driver method will cause the motor to move by a basic pitch angle
of 1.80 degrees (there are currently 200 pitch angles per circle for a standard two-phase motor).
2. Yuelei Pool Drive
When single-phase electric excitation is applied, the motor drive shaft stops at the entire step position. After receiving the next pulse,
if the driver excites the other phase and maintains the original excitation state, the motor drive shaft will move by one and a half transverse
angles and stop in the middle of two adjacent entire step positions. In this cyclic system, single-phase electricity is applied to the two-phase
electromagnetic coils, and then the two-phase excitation stepper motor will rotate using a lightning pool method of 0.90 degrees per pulse.
All whole/cross lightning pool drives
can implement whole step and cross lightning pool drives, which are selected by the dial of the drive dip switch. Compared with the whole
step method, the lightning pool method has the advantages of double high accuracy and less vibration during low-speed operation. Therefore,
when applying the whole/lightning pool driver, the lightning pool method is generally used.
